Annual filing deadlines across the UK
The deadline for your annual return depends on where your charity is registered, and the three UK regulators don't all use the same one.
| Regulator | Deadline after the end of the financial year |
|---|---|
| Charity Commission (England and Wales) | 10 months for the annual return |
| OSCR (Scotland) | 9 months for the annual return and accounts |
| Charity Commission for Northern Ireland | 10 months for the annual monitoring return |
| Companies House (charitable companies) | 9 months for the accounts, on top of the regulator's deadline |
Cross-border charities registered in more than one jurisdiction need to meet each regulator's requirements, which usually means working to the earliest date.
Putting the dates in a shared calendar at the start of the year helps.
