Scottish charities: what the Register now shows
Since 9 March 2026, the Scottish Charity Register has shown more about every Scottish charity than it used to:
- The first and last names of all trustees
- Annual reports and accounts submitted since that date, published in full with no redactions
- A description of what the charity does, in its own words, and the number of trustees
The second point is the one to focus on. If your trustees' annual report names volunteers or beneficiaries, or includes photographs of them, that material is now public. Check you have permission before you submit.
Trustees can apply to OSCR for their name to be withheld, but only where publication would put someone's safety or security at risk.
All of this follows from the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023.
